Covering the straps

  1. Cut off a piece of ribbon, about 130 cm. (51 in)
    Flipflop3
  2. Melt the edges to prevent the silk ribbon from fraying
    Flipflop4
  3. Sew on one end of the ribbon to one side of the strap.
    Flipflop5
  1. Add glue to the strap a little at a time, and start wrapping the ribbon around the strap. There might be a lot of ribbon in the beginning, so a bobby pin is perfect for keeping the ribbon neatly gathered. Use gloves to prevent getting glue everywhere.
    Flipflop6
  1. Cut off the excess silk ribbon
    Flipflop7
  2. Melt the edge of the silk ribbon.
    Flipflop8
  1. Sew it in place.

Beaded Design (Pinterest)

Flipflop18-1

  1. Start out by making a silk platform for the beads. Cut off a piece of ribbon, about 130 cm. (51 in)
  1. Fold it in half to find the center.
    Flipflop10
  1. Tuck the center of the ribbon behind the middle part of the strap.
    Flipflop11
  1. Bring the ends to the front, cross them and secure this starting point with a bobby pin.
    Flipflop12
  2. Keep wrapping the ribbon loosely around the straps while crisscrossing them.
    Flipflop13
  1. When reaching the end, try on the flip flop. Place a bobby pin at the weaved area where the shoe fits.
    Flipflop14
  1. Start sewing all over the created platform to make it solid.
    Flipflop15
  1. Wrap the ends downwards to the bottom of the strap and sew them in place.
    Flipflop16
  1. Start sewing all your favorite beads on the platform.

Bow Design

Flipflop32

  1. Start out by cutting a piece of wide ribbon, about 36 cm. (14 in), and thread a needle with a matching colored thread.
    Flipflop19
  2. Fold the piece of ribbon around your hand.
    Flipflop20
  1. Grab the center, and place it on the back of the ribbon.
    Flipflop21
  1. Make sure that the ends align with the bottom of the bow on each side.
    Flipflop22
  1. Make sure that the center v-shape is centered.
    Flipflop23
  1. Measure the length of the bow, to get the 2 bows evenly sized, about 9 cm. (3,5 in)
    Flipflop24
  1. Keep it all together with a bobby pin. Place the bobby pin a little off-center, so that you can sew along the line.
    Flipflop25
  1. Now pull the string and wrap the thread around the center. Check that the 2 sides of the bow is about the same size.
    Flipflop26
  1. Put a few stitches in the center and cut off the thread. Tie a new knot at the end of the thread, so that you have a new threaded needle ready.
    Flipflop27
  1. Cut off a small piece of ribbon, and melt the edges.
    Flipflop28
  1. Fold the piece 3 times into a small rectangle.
    Flipflop28-1
  1. Place it in the center of the bow.
    Flipflop29
  1. Cut off the access on the opposite side, stitch it together and melt the edges.
    Flipflop30
  2. Sew the bow on the shoe.

Pom poms Design

Flipflop35

  1. Pretty easy, just sew the pom pom onto the shoe.
    Flipflop34
(If you have some faux fur laying around instead, it’s pretty easy to make the pom poms yourself. You just cut out a circle. Then put stitches all around the edge of the circle and pull. Stuff it with some polyester stuffing to add volume)
