Difficulty (1-10)            5

Time                            3 hours

Supplies;

Pusheen_1

  • A canvas
  • Parchment paper
  • A pencil
  • A waterproof marker
  • Acrylic paint
  • 3 brushes
  • Glitter
  • Glue
  • A small container
  • Glass of water and paper towel

1 Make a stencil

  1. Follow the link to Pinterest and save the image onto your desktop (right-click on the image and click save as…)
  1. Reverse the image. I like to just open the image in Paint –> click rotate and flip horizontalPusheen Flipped
  2. Print out the image. I like to open the image in Word –> right-click the image and choose Wrap text –> In front of text
    Pusheen Word
This will allow you to drag it around and change the size.
  1. Roll out a piece of parchment paper and cut it to the size of the canvas. Place it on top of the printed image and start outlining the image with a pencil, preferably with a thick line. Though it is possible to place the parchment paper directly on the computer screen and trace the outlines with a very light hand, I recommend using a printed image.Pusheen

2 Transfer the image

  1. Flip your stencil and place it on the canvas, where you would like the image to be. Make sure that the side with pencil markings are facing down onto the canvas.
  1. Outline the image with a pencil once again.
  1. Now you should be able to see the image on the canvas. If the transfer is barely visible, you can always retrace it with a light hand directly on the canvas, with a pencil or a waterproof marker.

3 Color the image

 Pusheen_5

  1. Get a brush, acrylic paint, water and some paper towel. Start coloring the painting within the created lines.
  1. Redraw the outlines with the waterproof marker.

4 Glitterize

 Pusheen_6

  1. When the paint is dry, get your glitter, glue, 1 brush to paint on the glue and 1 brush to dust off the excess glitter. Fold a large piece of paper or cardboard, and place it underneath the canvas. Make a fold at the bottom, to collect the excess glitter.
  1. Choose one color at a time and start painting these sections with glue. Sprinkle out the glitter that match the color. Flip the canvas and dust off any excess glitter with a clean brush. When you’re done with one color, you can collect the excess using the paper/cardboard underneath.
  1. Repeat this process until the canvas is fully glitterized
  1. Enjoy your new sparkling creation.
